Iván Vidal-Romero

Hi! I'm Iván Vidal, a 24-year-old Industrial Engineering student and M.Sc. candidate in Operations Management at the University of Chile. I work as a graduate researcher in the Department of Industrial Engineering, an Applied Data Scientist at LATAM Airlines, and a Data Scientist at the Complex Engineering Systems Institute (ISCI).

My research studies how to make better decisions when information is incomplete. I combine optimization, online learning, Bayesian methods, and simulation, with applications in choice modeling, network interdiction, operational reliability, and health-policy evaluation.

My M.Sc. thesis, advised by Prof. Denis Sauré, studies Thompson sampling for multinomial logit bandits in monopolistic and competitive markets.

Alongside my research, I have served as a teaching assistant for both undergraduate and graduate courses, including courses at the master's and doctoral levels. In 2024, this work was recognized with the Best Teaching Assistant Award from the Department of Industrial Engineering.

Outside of work, I enjoy running, reading, and drawing.
